Wai Khru Day

We all know the word 'khru' and it's meaning here in Thailand. Originally from the word 'guru', meaning learned one or master, it has in Thailand anyway evolved over the years into the word 'khru'. 'Khru' is the Thai word for teacher and here in Thailand 'Wai Khru Day' is a special day in which the students can show their gratitude and respect to their teachers. This special day is usually held on the second Thursday of the first term of each academic year. The students make floral tributes and give them to their teachers accompanied by songs and prayers as a way of saying a 'thank you'.
