Visitors to our English Program
Here at Kanlayanee, we get many visitors from near and far. We have had Educational Officers who've come all the way from Australia and New Zealand. We had a Norwegian family of 14, unfortunately caught up in the Tsunami of December 2004 who came to Nakhonsithammarat for treatment and accommodation. We've had travelers from all over the world, friends of people with links to Kanlayanee and numerous visits from other schools within Thailand.
Aaron's friends - all the way from Toronto, Canada.
An old friend of Kanlayanee, Aaron Orlicky, who was our first ever Maths teacher had some of his friends in Thailand. These friends were spending a month traveling around Thailand and Cambodia. When Aaron knew that they were in southern Thailand, he suggested that they pay a visit to Kanlayanee. They contacted Ajarn Geordie who met up with them and brought them to the school. Both M3 classes then had the opportunity to interact with Chris, his brother Shannon and his wife Bonnie. All three joined the Mattayom 3 classes for a day. The students enjoyed it and the visitors were happy that they were able to get a little insight into the working of a Thai school.

Three Australian Academics on a 5 day workshop in Thailand.
After spending 4 days attending seminars and universities, our Australian visitors came to Kanlayanee. They were given a tour of the school, met some of the classes and were guests of honour for a seafood dinner in the evening. We hope they enjoyed their stay in Nakhonsithammarat and hope they return soon.
We have Japanese students visit our school every year.
Every year we have a group of Japanese visitors who come to see us here at Kanlayanee. This is a joint Thai - Japan venture organized by the Rotary Club of Nakhonsithammarat. When these visitors come to Nakhonsithammarat, we try to ensure that they have an enjoyable time during their stay. They were given a tour of our school and our city followed by a night of fun with dinner held in the ballroom of the Grand Park Hotel.
Ajarn Bill comes back!
One of our old teachers, Ajarn Bill paid us a visit while he was revisiting Thailand. Ajarn Bill used to be a Maths teacher here but left Thailand to return to his native country of America early in 2007. Anyway, after being away from Thailand for 8+ months, the lure of Nakhonsithammarat was so strong that he decided to come back for a few months. While Bill was away, he has been doing a bit of traveling and has been to places such as Tanzania and Jamaica. Bill met some of his former students who were very happy to see him again and they all had many questions to ask him to which he enthusiastically responded.
Benjama students at Kanlayanee?!?
On Thursday 27th December the Kanlayanee English Program was visited by 4 students from Benjamaratchutit School, another large school in Nakhonsithammarat. The reason for the visit was that these four students (Jubjang, Mook, Por and Nick) had an assignment given to them by their English teacher, the assignment being to 'interview' other westerners living in Nakhonsithammarat. They came and interviewed a couple of the teachers here and I think they enjoyed their little visit to the Kanlayaneesithammarat English Program ...... were they impressed?
