Hello, my name is Ryan Opanasets, the M1 maths teacher. I
also teach conversational English to M4 students.
My hometown is Braintree, Massachusetts in the USA. In
1997, I graduated from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New
York. The next year, I moved to New York City where I
worked at an advertising agency for 2 years. Then I moved
back to Braintree where I worked in financial companies
close by for about 5 years.
As
I was interested in living overseas, I earned a TEFL
certificate from the Boston Language Institute in 2005. (TEFL
stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language.) This
helped me get my first job in Thailand. I taught English,
Math, Science and Health at Assumption College Ubon
Ratchathani for 2 years before coming to Nakhon Si Thammarat.
I hope to become a good citizen of Nakhonsithammarat and in
my time here discover the beautiful scenery nearby.
I enjoy living in Thailand with my girlfriend. The weather
is always warm, which I love! It’s never cold and there’s
never any snow. Thai food is delicious and also very
healthy, it won’t make you fat like most American meals do.
I’m very fond of tom yum kung, chicken with cashews and
mangosteen. But I HATE EGGS!!! I always see eggs in Thai
food, even on hamburgers. So whenever I order food I always
say, “Mai ow kai.”
