Hi, I am
Mark. I was born in the Republic of Ireland and grew up in
County Wicklow which is known as 'The garden of Ireland' due
to its beautiful scenery and natural beauty. I graduated
from the University City Dublin which is in Dublin, the
capital city of Ireland. After graduating, I worked in a few
different areas, in my family's business, as a support
technician with Dell Computers and just before my arrival
here in Thailand, I was working with a national
telecommunications company called Cynergi in Dublin.
I first
arrived in Thailand back in 2002 when myself and a friend
came for a holiday. Thailand had such an affect on me that
on returning home I immediately started thinking about my
next trip back to Thailand and that was 18 months later in
2004. That time I stayed for 3 months before having to
return to my home country due to work commitments. It wasn't
long after that that I once again found myself on a flight
back to a country that I had fallen for. I arrived on April
1st, April Fool's Day as it is known in some countries and
my plan was to stay for another three months. It was during
this time that I was invited down to Nakhonsithammarat to
visit a friend working in the town. I was soon introduced to
her boss and before I knew it I was a teacher at a large
secondary school in Nakhonsithamarat. I worked there for 4
years teaching M4, 5 & 6 students which was very enjoyable
but soon the time came to move on and that is how I have
ended up teaching at Kanlayanee. Here I am the M2 Maths
teacher, the M1 Science teacher and I also teach a little
conversation to M5 students making my job here not only
enjoyable but varied too. Working at Kanlayanee is a whole
new challenge for me but at the same time it is also
exciting as Maths and Science have always been my favourite
subjects.
On top
of all that, I am also married to a beautiful person, Ajarn
Sheryl (also a teacher at Kanlayanee) and we have a
beautiful bouncing boy called Zachary, who has just turned
one year old. So, as you can see, since my visit in 2005
things have changed immensely for me and I really enjoy
living in Nakhonsithammarat and teaching at Kanlayanee.
