John Alsman

I have just joined the wonderful teaching team here at the Kanlayaneesithammarat English Program. The expertise and enthusiasm of the teachers here is truly inspiring. The students are enjoyable to teach, as they desire to learn and better themselves.

About myself – I was born in America and never dreamed that I would leave. But then a friend suggested I come to Thailand. And I did in 2007, and am glad.

In America, I received a degree in education and have taught junior high science. I have also worked in retail for many years, and continued my education at various times. Most recently I received training in mathematics, which I had fallen in love with after reading a book about the history of zero, five years ago. This was a surprise too, as I was only an average student in math in high school.

I enjoy living and teaching in Nakon Sri Thammarat. The people are friendly and nice, and the surrounding scenery is beautiful. My hobbies include reading, learning more math, and bicycling. Thailand is a bicycling paradise.
