HISTORIC FREMANTLE

Fremantle is one of the main sea ports for Western Australia and it is only a 3o minute train ride from Perth. We all finished our studies at Milner and walked the short distance to Perth train station. Here we bought our tickets and boarded the train that was to take us to Fremantle. The train was quite full so some of us had to stand most of the way but it didn't bother us because we were able to look at the passing scenery. We soon arrived in Fremantle, and following Robyn, we walked to the big marina full of all kinds of boats. We found a nice outdoor restaurant and sat down and had our lunches. The food was nice but very expensive compared to Thailand so we all shared one big plate together.

After our lunch we walked around the marina and then visited 'The Roundhouse', a very old building from hundreds of years ago. It had been built by prisoners and then used as a jail! It was interesting though and some of us, including the Principal were even locked up in the old stocks. We took many photos and then decided that we wanted to do some shopping. Robyn, once again showed us the way and soon we were at the famous Fremantle Market. We spent time looking around at all the various items for sale and a few of us bought some souveniers to take home to our families and friends. Once we had finished at the market, we slowly walked down the Fremantle streets and back to the train station for our journey back to Perth.
