Welcome to the Kanlayaneesithammarat
School's English Program |
|

I
had always dreamed of being an exchange student and in 2004 my dream
came true. I had seen several students who had been on the exchange
student program and they had all been successful in life. Now I was
a part of that program and I was really excited. I was so pleased
because I knew this following year was going to be one of new
experiences and challenges.
I had never been far
from my family before and I was a little nervous. I didn't cry
though. My mom said to me, 'Don’t worry - be happy,' and that made
me be feel stronger. I departed Bangkok on August 22nd 2004 bound
for the United States of America. The plane made a stopover in Japan
and here my friend and I walked around the airport looking at all
the sights. We saw many new things, things that one does not see in
Nakhonsithammarat. As an example, the food looked like it hadn't
been cooked and the shops were full of all kinds of other goods. We
soon left Japan and were on our way to the States. Eventually we
landed and I met my new 'host' mom. She gave me a great big hug. At
the beginning of my time in the States I was so really lonely but
after we had spent time together she was not only my mom but my
friend too. I could tell her everything and anything and she always
understood me. She taught me how to cook American food which I
really enjoyed. Sometimes I would cook Thai food for her. She loved
Thai food too! I was glad that I had a nice host mother. I lived in
Johnson City, Texas. I could eat Bar-B-Q everyday which I loved. I
went to the LBJ High School. My school had very small classes and I
had lots of friends. They were very good friends and when I didn’t
understand about home work or any thing about the American culture
they would all help me. I always went shopping with my friends. I
could go out with my friends if I asked my host mom. She said I
could go to parties too. I went to parties with my friends. I
learnt how American teenagers party. On my birthday my host mom gave
me a big party and my friends and I had a good time. We had a lot of
fun. In America they have a lot of parties, Birthdays, Christmas
Day, Easter Day, or any day that they want to make a party. I liked
the parties in Texas very much because I had a lot of fun. My
teachers at school were very nice and they would help me whenever I
needed it. It is not easy learning a new language. I left the USA on
June 4th 2005. I was crying because I didn’t want to leave all my
new found friends. I wanted to stay longer than I did.
I would like
to say that I learnt many different things from my stay in America.
I am now more interested than ever in other countries. I made some
great friends and I got good practice in speaking a second language.
My time in the States taught me many things. It gave me the
opportunity to see new things, learn about the western culture,
taught me how to live a real life by myself and of course let me
meet many wonderful people. I had a great time in America and I
would love to go back and see more of the country as well as revisit
all the people that I had met. Maybe one day!
